Ghusal

Allah not only admires purity but purity of body his obliged upen every muslim. There is soo much emphasis on cleanliness and purity that The Holy Prophet Muhammad (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam)said,
“Cleanliness is half your Imaan.”

Allah the Almighty have told us all the rules and regulation that how one can make himself clean and pure. Among them is the demonstration of Allah for the Muslim women that how to take bath after menstruation, sexual discharge and postpartum bleeding.

Allah says in the Qur’an:
“And they ask you about menstruation. Say, “It is harm, so keep away from wives during menstruation. And do not approach them until they are pure. And when they have purified themselves, then come to them from where Allah has ordained for you. Indeed, Allah loves those who are constantly repentant and loves those who purify themselves.” (Surah Baqarah: 222)


The importance of Ghusal
Ghusal is a means of preparing one’s self for Ibaadat (Worship of Allah). Ghusal is a necessity for a true Muslim. The importance of Ghusal has been mentioned in both the Holy Quran and in the hadith.
Almighty Allah commands in the Holy Quran that “if you are in an impure state, then purify yourself well.”
And The Holy Prophet Muhammad (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam)
said,
“Cleanliness is half your Imaan.”

Factors that make ghusal fardh (Obligatory)
1. Wet dream causes Ghusal to become Fardh (for both males and females)
2. Sexual intercourse will make Ghusal Fardh on both persons. ( for both males and females)
3. Ejaculation caused due to lust makes Ghusal Fardh. (for both males and females)
4. Ghusal is Fardh on women on termination of her menstrual periods. (for females only)
5. Ghusal is also Fardh on a female after Nifaas (puerperal haemorrhage). (for females only)
How to Take Bath/Ghusal?
1. First wash both the hands up to the wrist, three times, when taking bath. (Saheeh Muslim)
2. Then wash the genitals, and the filth with the left hand.(Saheeh Bukhari)
3. Then rub the left hand thoroughly against the ground 2-3 times, and then wash. (Saheeh Bukhari, Saheeh Muslim)
4. Then perform ablution in a manner, as described for the Salat. (Saheeh Bukhari), that is Thrice do the gargling in the mouth and thrice put water into the nose with 3 handsfull of water and not 6 handsfull, wash the face with 3 handsfull and both the hands up to the wrist, thrice. (Nasai, Sanad Saheeh)
5. Then make fingers of the handset wet and comb (do Khilaal) into the roots of hair, with fingers, until the skin of the head becomes, moist and wet, beyond doubt, then drain water over the head thrice.(Saheeh Bukhari)
6. Then drain water over the whole body, first right side and then the left side. (Saheeh Bukhari)
7. Then wash both the feet, getting aside from the bathing place. (Saheeh Bukhari)

Events when ghusal is Mustahab
It is Mustahab to perform Ghusl for the following:-
When waiting in Arafaat and Muzdalifa.
When visiting the Holy Haram (Kaaba).
Before visiting the Blessed Tomb of Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam).
Before entering Mina.
Before hitting the Jamraah.
On the eve of the Birth of Holy Prophet Muhammad (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam).
For Lailatul Qadr.
For Lailatul Baraat.
For Lailatul Me’raaj.
On the eve of Eid.
On the eve of Arafaah.
On the eve and day of Aashurah (10th Muharram).
Before wearing new clothes.
Before making Tauba (repenting) from one’s sins.
For Salaatul Istisqaa.
For Namaaz at the time of eclipse.
Before teaching the Holy Quran and Ahadith.
After bathing the deceased.
After coming out of an unconscious state.
Before and after a journey.
After Istihaaza (Sickness of women).
